The Early Days
I started my professional art career in 1976 at a little place called “The Airbrush Shop” in San Diego, CA.
I had just moved to San Diego from my hometown, Bakersfield, CA. I was eighteen and had no idea what I was going to do with my life. That is, until one day when I came across this little house with beautiful airbrushed clothes in the windows and a big sign with clouds on it that said “The Airbrush Shop”. My GOD! This is where I want to be! I introduced myself to the owner, Robbie Adkins. Little did I know, she would change my life forever! This lady, this angel, would guide me, teach me, care about me, and yes even fire me (three times) for the next three years of my life. Her partner in the business was Andy Anderson. Andy took me under his wing. He taught me things I will never forget, techniques that I still use to this day. Both of them would teach me to see the beauty in everyday life, and that you can always pick yourself up and carry on, no matter how bad the storm. They are also I am proud to say, still my friends. So are some of the other folks from that little airbrush shop. Each with their own special talents. Each with their special GIFT!
